CPJ’s Impunity Campaign consultant Elisabeth Witchel will join panelists in a discussion following a preview screening of Jim: The James Foley Story. Foley was kidnapped in November 2012 in Syria. He was missing for almost two years before his captors executed him. Foley’s death alerted the world to the rising risks journalists face covering frontline news today. The filmmaker, a close friend, looks at Foley’s life and decision to report on the plight of civilians impacted by war. It interviews family, friends, journalists and fellow hostages. Other panelists include director Brian Oakes and photographer Daniel Rye. The event will take place on August 31, 2016 at 7:30 PM in Curzon Bloomsbury cinema in London.
Tickets can be booked through the Bertha DocHouse website.
