Another radio journalist has been killed in the Philippines today according to reports from The Associated Press. Leo Mila, a radio broadcaster in the north of the country, was gunned down in front of his radio station earlier today. Mila’s program focused on discussing citizen’s complaints. According to reports, he had been working on a story about money collection issues at a local school.
Also from AP today is coverage of the jailing of Adel Hussein, an Iraqi journalist working in Kurdistan. Hussein has been jailed over a story about health and sex, however CPJ’s research shows that the law under which he is being held is no longer on record, having been usurped by a new media law that took effect in October.
